My life in the Health and Fitness Industry began around 9 years ago when I started training in the Master Wong Fighting System. Like most, as a youngster I had ventured into the world of Karate but after a couple of years I found myself bored and decided I’d had enough. After several years out of martial arts I decided it was time to find a new system to study.
I'd decided I wanted to learn Jeet Kune Do and after a little online research I came across The Master Wong Academy. After talking to Master Wong I realised that my JKD wouldn’t be very effective without a solid foundation in Wing Chun so began training in Master Wong’s Wing Chun System that same following week.
Taking only a short time to grasp the foundation of Master Wong’s Wing Chun System, I decided to become an instructor. With this decision made, I began training six and sometimes seven days a week.
The training I undertook was very intense and all of it full contact. We train full contact in order to make the training as intense and realistic as possible and this way we are able to get the most benefit from it as a fighting art.
Once I was nearing instructor level I began training in various other systems: JKD Bodyweapon, Tai Chi Combat and San Shou. This made my training regime even more intense but also far more enjoyable. This helped me greatly in becoming a better all around martial artist.
Becoming an instructor has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Through the training I have become a much stronger person both physically and mentally. I am a far more confident person and I now have a far clearer vision of the things I would like to achieve throughout my life.
To compliment my Martial Arts knowledge, I decided to get qualified as a Personal Trainer, Sport Massage Therapist and Nutritional Advisor in order to give me a better understanding of the body, how it works and how to effectively fuel the human machine for optimal health and performance.
Shortly thereafter, due to the vast differences in my ever increasing client base I soon realised that the generic health and fitness approach that’s taught within the fitness industry was nowhere near adequate for achieving neither optimal, nor sustainable results. This encouraged me to further my studies and in doing so I discovered The CHEK Institute.
They offer industry elite qualifications that are second to none and I am now fully committed to completing the CHEK Study Programme and have already completed the CHEK Exercise Coach Qualification, CHEK Practitioner Lv1 and also CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach Lv 1 (along with many of their home study Correspondence Courses).
I am now also a Senior Mentor and Strength Trainer for the FMA Strength Training Programme designed by Mark Buckley, this is another of the industry elite programmes and does a great job of filling in the void between the world rehabilitation and end stage strength and conditioning. As a Senior Mentor for the FMA Programme I am able to Present FMA Workshops and Repeat Courses for anybody interested in or currently studying within the FMA Programme. As an FMA Strength Trainer I possess a unique skill set that no other practitioner in the exercise industry has, enabling me to often make drastic results to a clients exercise technique and safety.
I’m also now trained in the use of Heart Rate Variability (HRV) Analysis and Mitochondrial Therapy. Through HRV Analysis I am able to design client specific Nutrition and Supplementation programmes. In my experience I have learned that this is essential for clients to achieve optimal and sustainable results.
Alongside the above I am also a qualified Extreme Kettlebell Instructor and a Certified Metabolic Typing Advisor. The skills and knowledge I’ve gained through my studies enable me to thoroughly assess each individual physically, physiologically and nutritionally enabling me to design programmes 100% specific to them and them alone!
My love for learning and quest for continuing improvement ensures that I’m able to offer one of the most comprehensive Health & Performance Services in the area. With this in mind my skill set can only increase along with my ability to help more and more people. For more details on the services I offer, please contact me on the details below.
